Baron Wormser is the former Poet Laureate of the state of Maine. He is the author of five books of
poetry, the most recent of which is
Mulroney and Others (Sarabande
Books, 2000). Also published in 2000 was
Teaching the Art of Poetry,
which helps address the topic of poetry whether you are a classroom teacher, a person who writes poetry, or someone who wants to better
understand poetry.

While managing to maintain an active writing life, he worked as a high school librarian in Madison, Maine, for twenty-five years. Here, he also had the opportunity to
teach creative writing to high school students. Over the past
dozen years he has taught poetry writing at the University of Maine at Farmington, the University of South Dakota, and at
the Frost Place in Franconia, NH. He also has worked extensively with individual students and in many school
settings. As someone whose life has been greatly enriched by poetry, he is committed to helping others access poetry's remarkable heritage.
